Mustard 1.0-1.5
Chickpea 1.0-1.5
Papaya 1.5-2.0

At the time of final land preparation with other fertilizer

3. CULTIVATION OF POTATO USING MULCH IN SALINE AREA

Potato with mulch

Production guide line : Potato should be grown in using mulch in saline area.
Water hyacinth is better than other types of mulch but straw mulch can be used. After harvesting of crop mulch to be incorporated into the soil.
Crop : Potato
Variety : Heera/Dheera/Cardinal/Diamont
Sowing time : Mid November to 1st week of December.
Spacing : 50 x 20 cm
Types of mulch : Water hyacinth/Rice straw
Thickness of mulch : 10-15 cm
Irrigation : Rainfed condition.
Fertilizer dose : 325-174-80-5 kg/ha of Urea, TSP, MP and Zinc sulphate + 5 t/ha cowdung
Fertilizer application : All as basal during final land preparation.
Yield (t/ha) : 23 (Average)
Cost and benefit of the technology : Total variable cost: Tk. 44750/ha, Gross margin: Tk. 70350/ha, BCR: 2.57.

4. CULTIVATION OF TOMATO USING MULCH IN SALINE AREA

Tomato with mulch

Production guide line : Tomato should be grown in using mulch in saline area but straw mulch can be used.
Water hyacinth is found better than other types of mulch. After harvesting of crop mulch to be incorporated into the soil.
Crop : Tomato
Variety : BARI Tomato 2/BARI Tomato 7/BARI Tomato 8/BARI Tomato 9
Sowing time : Mid November to last of December.
Spacing : 60 x 40 cm
Types of mulch : Water hyacinth/Rice straw
Thickness of mulch : 10-15 cm
Irrigation : Rainfed
Pruning   Pruning of side branch up to 15 cm from the ground.
Sticking   Sticking with bamboo branch or ‘Dhaincha’ to protect lodging of mature plant.
Fertilizer dose : 400-405-108 kg Urea, TSP and MP + 5 t/ha cowdung
Fertilizer application : All as basal during final land preparation.
Yield (t/ha) : 57 (Average)
Cost and benefit of the technology : Gross margin: Tk. 237450/ha, Total variable cost: Tk. 47550/ha.
